NAU Alumni Facetime
Welcome to the first issue of NAU Alumni Facetime, published bi-monthly by the NAU Office of Alumni Relations. Here you'll find news on your friends and classmates organized by decade, with links to more in-depth explorations of their lives and work. We've also included a listing of class note blurbs sent out on Twitter; many of these link to the publications from which we pulled the news.
If you'd like to share your life updates and photos* (travel! weddings! new babies!) in Facetime, Submit News here.

Caroline Miller, '71 MED, has penned her second novel, Gothic Spring (Asylett Press, 2009) just in time for the fall spooky season. Spring's heroine "knows something about the death of the vicar's wife...but what? Is she the killer? Or the next victim?" This genre tale is a departure from Miller's debut novel, Heart Land (Schiel & Denver, 2009), a poignant memoir. Watch an interview with Miller about both books at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AWwomqa9CZc.

On October 24th, Homecoming Day, U.S. Navy Rear Admiral Robin R. Braun, '77 BA (seen here with President John D. Haeger, l., and Regent Ernest Calderón, '79 BS, r.), saluted NAU military personnel and veterans at a special American Legion breakfast.

Cindie Travis, '84 BS and Tim Travis, '00 MED, (pictured below) may be hard to find these days, unless you have a world map and some serious GPS tech. "After many years of saving and planning we sold everything and rented out our house...on March 30th, 2002, we rolled out the door and down the road." Since then their venture has grown into a photo/written journal and travelogue, with lengthy forays into four continents. Girdle the earth with Tim and Cindie at DownTheRoad.org, and Twitter @DownTheRoadORG. And spam them no spam, please -- they have no room in their luggage!

In Bolivia, packed up and ready to ride on the Salazar Salt Lake Flat.

1990s
Julie Beischel, '96 BS, has chosen an unorthodox professional road. She is co-founder and director of research at The Windbridge Institute for Applied Research in Human Potential, which "investigates what our bodies, minds, and spirits are capable of and how that information can best serve all living things." To read an interview with Beischel on her work -- which, as she notes, some may consider "professional suicide" -- visit the Daily Grail website.

Todd Lang, '00 BS, and Brooke Ashley Myers, '03 BS, are looking particularly picture-postcard beautiful in this June 14th photo, having just tied the knot at the magnificently scenic L'Auberge de Sedona. After their Bahamian honeymoon, the couple settled in their new Phoenix home. Todd has worked as a paralegal for the past eight years, now with Ford Motor Company, Yamaha Motor Company, and Polaris in the product's liability side. Brooke, who has also earned her paralegal degree, is with Hartford Insurance Company. Todd notes that though neither of them is currently working in their major field -- Hotel and Restaurant Management -- he is proud of his involvement in the HRM honor society as well as the Sigma Chi Fraternity.
