Horton Scholarship Information

Wiley A new scholarship has been set up to honor late NAU Hall of Fame basketball player Wiley Horton, '61 BS, who passed away this spring.
During his years playing college basketball as a forward from 1956 to 1960, Horton was one of the nation's scoring leaders in the number of baskets made in a season. He's a member of the 1000 Point Club, with 1250 points before the "three pointer" was introduced. Horton was inducted into the NAU Athletics Hall of Fame in 1999.
wiley horton "It is our hope to have this scholarship open many opportunities for other deserving students to get their education while enjoying NAU campus as we did," says Wiley's widow Betsy Horton, '61 BS and '73 MS. "They will find the friends they make here will last a lifetime. There will be a special bond with their fellow team mates and the strong values they learn at NAU will be the foundation for their future. Wiley was a special person and he touched many lives in many ways. By continuing his memory we hope his legacy will help others achieve their goals."
