Veteran Book Signing, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., High Country Conference Center. Prior to the Veterans Recognition Dinner, two decorated NAU Marine officers and Vietnam veterans will conduct a book signing:

* Bill Van Zanten, '62, has written a personal memoir, Don't Bunch Up: One Marine's Story. He was decorated with
the Bronze Star with Combat "V," the Navy Commendation Medal with Combat "V," and the Combat Action Ribbon
for one tour of duty in Vietnam.

* Don Price, '62 is the author of The First Marine Captured in Vietnam, which is about Captain Donald Gilbert
Cook, the first U.S. Marine captured in Vietnam, the first and only Marine in history to earn the Medal of Honor
while in captivity, and the first Marine POW to have a U.S. Navy ship named in his honor, the USS Donald Cook
(DDG-75). Price is the recipient of the Silver Star, three Bronze Stars with Combat "V," the Purple Heart, eight air
medals, three Navy Commendation Medals with Combat "V," and the Combat Action Ribbon
for three tours of duty in Vietnam.

Veterans Recognition Dinner, 7 p.m., High Country Conference Center, 201 W. Butler Ave. The featured speaker will be U.S. Army assistant deputy chief of staff, Major General Rhett A. Hernandez. Reservations and advance payment required. Space is limited. Semi-formal attire. No charge for NAU alumni veterans and active NAU military personnel. Cost for all others $30 per person. Cash bar. RSVP to the NAU Office of Alumni Relations at 888-778-7628 by October 9th.

During the parade, watch for the military flyover. At the F-16 controls: Coconino High School grad Greg Stroud, whose wife, Pennie Gillette Stroud, is an NAU alumna.
